New Years Playlist!

Alright, at 10:43 p.m. (now) I am posting my last blog of 2008! I thought I'd inform you of the tunes keeping the countdown groovy, so here it goes
  1. Id Engager -Of Montreal
  2. Electric Feel -MGMT
  3. Crooked teeth -Death cab for cutie
  4. Humans being -Van Halen
  5. Bohemian Rhapsody -Queen
Happy (almost) New year, to everybody out there in the real world, this is Will, signing off for the rest of '08!

So,

There's this girl who I'm crazy about, and she just got together with one of my best friends. You would naturally assume that I would be devastated, wrecked, ruined, and otherwise crushed, right? Wrong. I have recently taken stock of my life and found that those who I once felt passion for, have become more like brothers and sisters to me, and in this way, when they pair up, I feel that they will protect each other, and that makes me happy. So, the girl I love is dating a man I love, I think its great. Although, to be fair, I should warn him that if it ends badly,
I'll break his dick off.
In all honesty I haven't been this optimistic about anything since, well ever! I wish nothing but good luck on the both of them, and i hope that next year holds as many pleasant surprises as this one has.
Cheerfully yours, Your grim host, William Cole Newsom.

Great Idea

I don't know a single person who isn't completely infatuated with somebody else, and that made me think; wouldn't things be so much easier if on one day of the year, everybody told the object of their affection about their feelings? Think about it, at least a few people would be telling the people who love them as well, and they would pair up, while all the others at least had a chance to find love. Personally I think it would be great to get it off my chest, and I wouldn't have to be embarrassed, as billions of other people would be doing exactly the same thing.
On that note, here's my Top Five Night Time songs
  1. Title and registration -Death cab for cutie
  2. Everything's gonna be all right (will's lullaby) -Joshua Radin
  3. Such great heights -Iron and Wine/ The postal Service (either one works)
  4. Romance -My Chemical Romance
  5. Burn it down (extended breakdown edition) -Avenged sevenfold ( Apparently death metal, played at a low volume, is perfect for inducing sleep, something to do with the rhythm)
Good night.

Written on a dollar

Today I wrote the names of the four people I love the most on a one dollar bill and spent it, I included a short message to each of those people, and I hope that someday that dollar will reach them. The inspiration for my act comes from a dollar bill that I found in the street when I was ten years old. On the reverse side of the note was scrawled a name that will not come to me now, and the simple message " I love you". So anyway, in the hope that my message of love will reach you, I've decided to make my Top Five today my Top Five songs about unrequited love.
  1. Learning the game -Leo Kottke
  2. The way I feel inside -The Zombies
  3. If you want my love ( you got it) -Cheap Trick
  4. Cath -Death Cab For Cutie
  5. Shot down in flames -AC/DC
Well there you have it folks, and if you find my dollar, please pass it on. Thanks.

Huzzah!

Mere moments ago, my extended family pulled away from our house, taking their Uber-Christianity, and intolerance with them. Does everyone grow to hate their family? Actually I have a theory about that: Yes. Although I have to admit that I have a good feeling about today, so I would like to post my first reader submitted top five list.
Alex Diaz's desert Island Top Five Trippiest songs ever:

1.I Am the Walrus-The Beatles
2.You're Pussy's Glued to a Building on Fire-John Frusciante
3.This Is the End-The Doors
4.1983(A Merman I Should Turn to Be)-Jimi Hendrix
5.White Rabbit-Jefferson Airplane

So once again, if you have a Top Five list of any sort, be it music, movies or art, Send it in and I'll post it!

Why I hate Christmas

Every year I wait for Christmas, simply because I love to see my family, and contrary to the readily accepted capitalist dogma, not because of the gifts. In all honesty, I'm completely fine getting nothing at all on Christmas, giving things away is always more fun. This sentiment however vanishes inexplicably when faced with a truly awful gift! When I unwrap an item that betrays my family's complete lack of insight into my life, such as a cheap knock off video-game system, or a pleasant tie, I want to strangle them all by their tasteful scarves! Just once I would like to get a present that showed that the sender knew a little bit about me, and cared enough to use that knowledge in selecting a gift. In the meantime, I suggest that all future Christmases be canceled, and the usual shopping time devoted to actually getting to know our families!
Now my after Christmas slowdown top five playlist:
  1. A lack of color -Death Cab For Cutie
  2. At your funeral -Saves The Day
  3. Beast and the harlot -Avenged Sevenfold
  4. Be ok -Ingrid Michaelson
  5. Disposable teens -Marilyn Manson
And that's all I have to say about that!

Midnight Christmas

Welcome to my Midnight post! First of all, merry Christmas to all (2) of you, and I hope that the rest of your day is filled with goodies and geegaws. Now, on to business; I have a bone to pick with Santa. Every year Santa flies around the world to all the good little boys' and girls' houses, and delivers presents, but what about those poor children in Africa and china who get nothing? Are all Sudanese children naughty? I think that Santa (or maybe a large corporation or two) needs to pay some more attention to the kids going without this year.
On a slightly less depressing note, I would like to suggest my all time top five driving hits for Santa as he makes his rounds tonight, so here it comes:
  1. Bat country- Avenged sevenfold
  2. Road to Nowhere- Talking Heads
  3. Get this party started- P!nk
  4. Low rider- War
  5. Bohemian Rhapsody- Queen ( this song will appear quite often in my lists.)
So once again, Merry Christmas, Happy new year, etc. etc.

Christmas eve.

Alright, time for my top five desert island picks for Christmas jams:
1. Merry Christmas from the family- Robert Earl Keen
2. Whats so funny about ( peace love and understanding)- Elvis Costello
3. Lets get it on- Marvin Gaye
4. Well may the world go- Pete Seeger
6. Christmas in Hollywood- The Hollywood Undead ( I know its an odd choice for this list, but come on, its catchy!)

Alright, well there you have it my friends, and please, if anyone actually reads this blog, send me your top five lists of any genre of music, movies or art, and I'll do my best to post as many as I can!
Merry almost Christmas, and Happy not quite New Year!

Update:
So, I've been listening to some kind of newish Christmas music all day and I thought I would take some time to extol the virtues of Tex-Mex music. When listening to obvious classics like Feliz Navidad, its not hard to see why Spanish is such an excellent medium for Christmas music, but what about Freddy fender's ninety six tears? Hispanic artists bring something special to this genre, maybe because of their strong Catholic faith, or maybe it's just inherent in Hispanic cuture, whatever it is, one thing is for sure: Spanish and Christmas go together like enchiladas and huevos rancheros.

Hola everybody!

So this is my new blog, and welcome to it! In an effort to be topical I've decided that this first post should be a discussion of up and coming alt-rock groups, however something recently came to my attention which deserves mention; Paramore has started apologizing to fans for taking the lords name in vain! Now I have nothing against religious people ( lie) but this is a little extreme coming from a pseudo punk outfit, I expected better from you, Paramore. Now in other news, I would like to tip my hat to a rising star in the indie world; Joshua Radin. Radin, growing discontented with the life of a screenwriter, picked up a guitar and has since put out an amazing album: Simple times.
Well thats all for today, and I hope you will join me in the future on my journies through all things, big and small, that happen to cross my mind.
